Whether you’re looking to start a new career or maintain your current certification, our professional training will prepare you with the knowledge and confidence needed to keep Washington’s roads safe and efficient.
WA Flagger Certification Course

What the Course Covers
This 8-hour certification course is based on the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) flagger training curriculum and will include:
- The requirements for becoming a certified flagger in WashingtonFlagging laws and regulations enforced by state and federal agencies
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) and flagging gear you’ll need on the job
- How to set up a Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) zone using proper warning devices and spacing
- Effective flagger placement and safe use of STOP/SLOW paddles, flashlights, and red flags
- Best practices for keeping yourself and others safe on active job sites
- Special situations like intersections, roundabouts, and railroad crossings
You’ll leave with the practical understanding needed to do the job right—and stay safe doing it.

Classes fill quickly—registration is required and payment must be made in advance to reserve your seat.
Course Requirements
To attend the course, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Bring a valid, government-issued photo I.D. on the day of class
- [Optional: Review the physical requirements of the flagger role]
Note: While physical capabilities are important, those who do not meet all physical requirements are still welcome to attend the course.
